Let s get one thing straight right off the bat. Children love books with flaps. They can t get enough of them. And this book has many, many flaps--over 60, in fact. Something else: children are crazy about Thomas the tank engine. Translation? Very young readers will happily spend a lot of time lifting and learning with this big, bright, colorful board book. Early learning concepts are reinforced on each page, as readers are encouraged to explore their knowledge of colors, numbers, sizes, everyday objects, and the alphabet. Thomas the tank engine travels through the pages, starting out early in the morning in the train shed and moving through the stations, dropping off parcels and passengers, and finally ending up in the freight yard with car after car full of important objects to be delivered, such as milk, doors, a piano, a kangaroo, and xylophones. Children should be allowed to roam freely over the pages of this book, making up their own stories related to the pictures they discover under the flaps. (Ages 2 and older) --Emilie Coulter

Fun for Adult and Child - My 3-year-old son loves this book. Each set of pages focuses on a different concept like counting, colors, or the alphabet. One page has 10 flaps numbered 1-10, and under each flap are a certain number of items to count. Another page has the entire alphabet! The flaps aren t all the same size either, which is more fun for the kids. I recommend this book for children 6 and under.

Flipping, flappping fun - This book is a big hit with the Thomas Set. It deals with many of the young children standards - colours, numbers, big & small, a-z, objects. All with the added attraction of flap-lifting, which little fingers just LOVE! Provides hours, weeks, months and years of entertainment - and informative as well.

A long running hit at our house! - Both my boys (ages 5 and 2) are big Thomas fans, and this book is probably their favorite Thomas book. There is truly a lot to see and do here! I think their favorite page is the one with a lot of sheds to open and see all the favorites---James, Percy---all of the gang! Another page has boxes filled with different numbers of things---toys, hats, bananas, etc. One page even features a man that looks a little bit like Schemer from the Shining Time Station series, although I don t think he really is, but that didn t stop that from being the favorite flap in the book for my older son! Each page is filled with interesting details. Certainly worth every penny.

Fun,fun, fun and educational - My child received this when he was a year old and now he is three and he is still interested and learning. This pop up book is fun for any Thomas the train fan.
